The Nutcracker returns every year to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma — Tchaikovsky's beloved ballet, a dressed-up Roman crowd, and a memorable evening in the city.

A yearly production at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma: Lo Schiaccianoci — The Nutcracker — with the full company, orchestra, and all the magic of a ballet that marks the season each year.

Lo Schiaccianoci

Musica Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij. Balletto in un prologo e due atti, da un racconto di E.T.A. Hoffmann. Durata: 50 minuti — (intervallo 25 minuti) — 55 minuti. A yearly tradition in Rome.

The Arrival

The façade glowing at night, posters in the lobby, people slowing down as they enter. Dress the part and arrive early.

Afterward, take the long walk back through Rome with the music still echoing — the Waltz of the Flowers, the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the march of the toy soldiers.
